THE SPEAKER, WHICH IS THE ITEM THAT GETS UNPACKED FIRST

Six and a half watts from a body 9.1 cm across, which is enough to fill a room rather than a desk — the difference between a speaker that stays in a drawer and one that becomes the speaker someone actually uses. Bluetooth 5.4 pairs with any current phone or laptop in seconds. There is an RGB light strip across the front that sweeps through the spectrum, and at low light it works as ambient lighting rather than as a gimmick.

Then four more ways to play, which matter more than they sound for a gift going to people whose situations you do not know: FM radio needs no phone, no app and no data. USB and TF card play files directly from a drive. And TWS pairs two of these speakers into a genuine left-right stereo pair, so a team that receives them can put two together.

The volume control is a knurled analogue knob on the top panel, not a touch strip. It is the first thing anyone does with the speaker and it is the reason the object feels more expensive than it is.

THE TRAVEL CUP

Three hundred millilitres, which is a standard coffee rather than a soup bowl — the size someone carries to a meeting. The body is bamboo fibre with a speckled finish, and the cobalt silicone sleeve at the waist is there so a hot drink does not reach your hand. The lid screws down with a sip opening and a stopper tab rather than clipping on, which is the difference between a cup that travels in a bag and one that only crosses a room.

Hand wash it. That preserves both the finish and any printed logo, which a dishwasher cycle will eventually lift.

THE CANDLE AND THE COFFEE

The candle is a single wick in a hexagonal clear glass jar, finished with a jute-wrapped cap that matches the basket, in a peach terracotta wax. The jar is worth keeping once the wax is gone.

The coffee is fifty grams of 100% Arabica instant, vanilla, in a glass jar with a screw lid that reseals. It is ours. Instant rather than ground is deliberate for a kit like this — a new joiner with no equipment yet can make a cup on the first morning, which a bag of beans does not allow.

THE BASKET, AND WHY IT IS NOT A BOX

Hand-crocheted from thick natural jute rope in an open diamond mesh, with a solid rope rim, two rope carry handles and black cord-lock hardware at four points. It is a real basket rather than packaging shaped like one, and that is the point: the kit is unpacked once and the basket is used for years.

WHAT WE HAVE NOT STATED, AND WHY

We have not given the basket's dimensions, the candle's burn time or fragrance, or a shelf life on the coffee, because we have not verified them for this kit and a plausible number is worse than none. We have not said the speaker is waterproof or that it takes calls, and we have not claimed a straw with the cup. If you are ordering in volume and any of those decide it for you, ask and we will confirm against the actual batch going into your order.

Returns

Hampers are not eligible for return, exchange or refund, with the single exception of a hamper that arrives damaged in transit, which must be reported to the delivery partner at the time of delivery so the claim can be raised, and branded units are non-returnable once produced.

Please note

Hand wash the travel cup rather than putting it in a dishwasher, which preserves both the finish and any printed logo. Never leave the candle burning unattended, keep it away from curtains, children and pets, and set it on a heatproof surface because the glass jar gets hot. Keep the coffee jar closed and away from steam. Spot clean the jute basket with a barely damp cloth and keep it dry — jute is a natural fibre and it wicks and stains if it sits in water. Charge the speaker over its USB port.
