International shipping

Shipping gifts outside India

Every hamper is packed in India and sent overseas by tracked express courier. Here is what decides the shipping cost, roughly what it comes to and what it does not include, so the charge at checkout is never a surprise.

What decides the shipping cost

International couriers price every parcel on the same few things.

  1. Destination country

Couriers price by zone. Parcels to the Gulf and South-East Asia usually cost less than parcels to North America, Europe or Australia.

  2. Weight and box size

Couriers charge on whichever is greater: the actual weight, or the volumetric weight of the box (length × width × height in cm ÷ 5,000). Our typical range is for a parcel of about 2–2.5 kg volumetric weight; a larger or heavier box costs more. A light hamper in a large box can cost as much as a heavy one.

  3. What is inside

Glass, ceramic, brass and liquids need extra protective packing, which adds weight. Some countries also restrict certain foods, so a food hamper may need checking before it ships.

  4. Order value

Orders of about $104 (₹9,999) and above ship free to every country we deliver to. Items with lithium batteries are the exception and are always charged per piece.

  5. One order, one address

Everything in one order travels to one address as one parcel. Gifts going to several addresses are separate parcels, each with its own shipping charge.

  6. Tech items with lithium batteries

International shipping rules do not allow items with lithium batteries, such as power banks, to travel packed together. Every such item, whether on its own or inside a hamper, ships as a separate parcel and is charged per piece.

What each country lets in

Every country sets its own rules for food and natural materials arriving by courier. These are the ones that affect gift hampers most.

Australia

The strictest destination for food. Australian biosecurity treats these as high risk and may hold them, treat them at the recipient's cost, or destroy them:

  • Milk-based sweets such as barfi, peda and rasgulla, and ghee
  • Dry fruits, nuts and seeds
  • Spices, tea and herbs
  • Flowers, plant material and anything made with seeds

Every item must be declared by name. For Australia we recommend a non-food hamper.

New Zealand

Parcels containing food are opened and inspected.

  • Not allowed: honey and bee products
  • Not allowed: items made of straw, rattan or unprocessed cane or bamboo
  • Nuts and seeds must be declared and may be held

United Kingdom

Meat and dairy products are restricted, so milk-based sweets and ghee may be stopped at the border. Packaged chocolate, biscuits and confectionery are generally allowed.

United States

All food must be declared to US customs. Milk-based sweets, fresh fruit, seeds and anything containing meat may be refused. Sealed, shelf-stable items such as tea and dry sweets usually clear.

Canada

Food is allowed within personal-use limits per person, for example 20 kg of dairy or 20 kg of honey. Animal fats cannot arrive by mail or courier, so ghee may be refused.

UAE and Singapore

Medicines, supplements and health products need prior approval, and some foods need import permits. Singapore also restricts lithium batteries. Tell us what is in your hamper and we will check it.

Every country

Couriers carry some items only under dangerous-goods rules:

  • Alcohol-based perfumes and attars
  • Matches
  • Loose lithium batteries

If your hamper contains one of these, we will contact you before dispatch to swap it.

Rules change and are applied by each country's customs, not by us. Tell us the destination before you order and we will check your hamper against it.

International shipping questions

For most hamper parcels, about 2–2.5 kg volumetric weight, international shipping is approximately $42–$52 (₹4,000–₹5,000). Larger or heavier parcels cost more, and items with lithium batteries, such as power banks, are charged per piece. The exact amount is shown at checkout, in Indian rupees, before you pay. Orders of about $104 (₹9,999) and above ship free.

International shipping rules require items with lithium batteries, such as power banks, to be sent one per parcel; they cannot be packed together. Each piece is therefore shipped and charged separately, whether you order one or many.

Possibly. Import duties and taxes are set by the destination country and paid by the recipient when the courier delivers. They are not part of our shipping charge.

Many of our hampers contain packaged food, and some countries restrict certain foods. Message us on WhatsApp with the destination before you order and we will check the hamper you have chosen.

It depends on the country. Milk-based sweets such as barfi, peda and rasgulla, and ghee, are restricted in Australia, the UK and Canada and may be refused in the US. Australia also restricts dry fruits, nuts, spices and tea. Packaged dry sweets, chocolates and biscuits travel more easily. Tell us the destination and we will suggest a hamper that will clear customs.

Customs in the destination country decides. A restricted item may be held, treated at the recipient's cost, returned or destroyed, and the courier charge cannot be refunded once the parcel has shipped. Checking the hamper with us before you order avoids this.
